Course Objectives
1. Introduction to some special power transmission elements not covered in undergraduate courses.
2. A general approach to problems and solutions encountered in a wide variety of systems used for power transmission.
3. The aim is to be able to write the equation of motion of a simple power transmission system.
Course Description
Speed-torque characteristics and other defining properties of motor components and driven machinery. Overview of speed-changing machines. Mechanisms used for speed adjustment, stepped and stepless speed adjustment. Modeling of steady-state and transient behavior in power transmission, equations of motion. Initial motion problem and solutions in electric motor drive. Hydrodynamic elements in power transmission. Hydrostatic power transmission.
Course Outcomes
1. Knowledge of electric motors and their characteristics.
2. Ability to recognize step and stepless speed converters and select the appropriate system for the construction.
3. Sufficient knowledge to write the equation of motion of a power transmission system in a simple way.
4. Ability to determine and select the elements to be used between the motor and the machine according to the characteristics of these machines.
5. Ability to recognize the elements used in hydrostatic power transmission and determine the appropriate element for a specific system.
