MAK 4017 - Industrial Acoustics and Noise

Course Objectives

The purpose of this course is lead to the student into principles of noise measurements, the noise units, criteria currently employed and instrumentation for noise measurement analysis via the basic physics of sound and examples of typical measurements made under practical conditions.

Fundamentals of sound and theoretical aspects. Propagation of sound in air. Psychoacoustics. Noise criteria. Noise measurement systems. Microphones, microphone selection and calibration. Noise measurement techniques and standards in industry. Prediction of sound power levels in industry. Noise control in industry.
