Course Objectives The purpose of this course is lead to the student into principles of noise measurements, the noise units, criteria currently employed and instrumentation for noise measurement analysis via the basic physics of sound and examples of typical measurements made under practical conditions.
Course Description Fundamentals of sound and theoretical aspects. Propagation of sound in air. Psychoacoustics. Noise criteria. Noise measurement systems. Microphones, microphone selection and calibration. Noise measurement techniques and standards in industry. Prediction of sound power levels in industry. Noise control in industry.
Course Outcomes At the end of the course students have those abilities and experiences:
1. Understanding of fundamentals and theoretical aspects of noise problems met in engineering,
2. Basic knowledge in psychoacoustics and noise criteria,
3. An ability to analyze and evaluate of the noise measurements in industry,
4. An experience to define and analyze of industrial noise control problems met in engineering.
