Course Objectives		Increasing world population requires increasing raw material production. As a result, Low grade ore deposits are mined in an increasing trend. This requires enormous production. This is possible by removing the waste material above mineral deposit for excavation. 80% of raw mineral materials are mined from surface mines.
Course Description		Introduction to Surface Mining, Surface Mining terms, Drainage, Waste Removal, Technological operations, Excavation in hard and weak rock, Haulage, Reclamation, Waste removal and ore production systems, Quarries, Surface mine planning.
