Course Objectives 1. To teach basic concepts and terminology of slope stability.
2. To teach soil slope calculations and slope arrangements.
3. To teach il slope calculations and slope arrangements.
4. To teach how to use stability charts.
Course Description Evaluating the slopes which are formed in natural environments (rocks, soil) and controlled filling by manmade using basic stability analysis methods, determining the critical slip surface, calculating the smallest friction safety (FS) number of slopes, slope design in rock and ground environments, how to use stability charts.
Course Outcomes 1. To learn the basic engineering properties of the environments (natural, artificial).
2. To learn the concepts of total effective stress and residual shear strength in slope stability analysis.
3. To learn the infinite slope stability analysis.
4. To learn the finite slope stability analysis.
5. To learn how to design and construct the slopes.
6. To calculate and design the slopes in natural environments (rocks, ground).
7. To make controlled filling and slope adjustment.
8. To calculates and adjusts slopes under dynamic loads.
9. To learn the Slide software
