Course Objectives
1. Give an overview of shipping economics, market organisation, shipping supply and demand,
2. Global and national economy and its relations to transportation,
3. Merchant shipbuilding and design, the charter market, marine law
4. Marine insurance, shipping costs, standards,conventions
5. Quantitative methods in shipping finance.
Course Description
Shipping market,Liner shipping, Bulk shipping, Tanker shipping, The charter market, Ship insurance, P&I clubs, Shipping finance, Engineering finance, Organization structures of shipping firms, Shipping costs, revenue and financial performance.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Learn the shipping market conditions,
II. Learn the ship types and shipping models,
III. Calculate the shipping costs,
IV. Learn all about the marine insurance,
V. Asseses and evaluate of a broker’s offer.
