Course Objectives 1. Learn basic knowledge about underwater vehicles,
2. Learn different types of underwater vehicles,
3. Learn propulsion and motion systems of different underwater vehicles,
4. Learn different navigation systems of underwater vehicles,
5. Learn basic design criteria for different underwater vehicles,
6. Learn autonomy and autonomous working mechanisms of underwater vehicles,
7. To generate and establish a methodology for structural design from engineering stand point
Course Description Underwater vehicles. Types of underwater vehicles. Autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles. Motion of underwater vehicles. Basic design criteria in underwater vehicles. Propulsion systems of autonomous underwater vehicles. Control system for autonomous underwater vehicles. Motion and propulsion systems in remotely operated vehicles (ROV). Navigation systems for underwater vehicles
Course Outcomes 1- Learns different types of underwater vehicles,
2- Learns fundamental design criteria for underwater vehicles and create a general design,
3- Can decide on the appropriate propulsion mechanism for the vehicle,
4- Can decide on the navigation system depending on the mission definition and vehicle type,
5- Can develop fundamental algorithms for the vehicle motion,
6- Can identify the requirements of autonomous systems for underwater vehicles.
