Course Objectives
The main objectives of the course are:
1.Learn about the oceanographic and ocean engineering equipment and sensors
2.Learn types of data and data dimensions
3.Problems with data collection and equipment maintenance,
4.Different methods for analyzing the oceanographic data
Course Description
Oceanographic Data Collection Platforms. Periodic and Random Oceanographic Data Collection. Data Recording. Preparation, Analysis and Digital Filtering of Oceanographic Data. Fourier Series and Fast Fourier Transforms. Applications of Linear Correlation Analysis, Linear Regression Analysis and Correlation Functions to Oceanographic Data
Course Outcomes
1. Calculate basic statistical properties of a given data set
2. Determine correlation and covariance between data sets
3. Calculate statistical errors in basic and advanced estimates
4. Learn about the oceanographic measurement equipment and learn about the limits of the sensors
