Course Objectives
To gain the necessary knowledge and ability to use on the general structure of international and national regulations and classification rules for life safety, safety of ships and protection from marine pollution for technical survey activities.
Course Description
• An overview of international conventions and regulations that are the basis for legal survey, inspection and certification. Emphasize on recent rules /regulations.
• Informing about national and international legislation and technical safety rules for those who will take part in technical survey activities; dealing with good and bad practice examples.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. learn the general rules and the structure of national and international rules and regulations.
II. learn the general requirements of the Loadline Convention.
III. learn basic requirements of Tonnage Convention.
IV. learn the general requirements of the SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea).
V. learn International Regulations on environmental protection (MARPOL, etc.).
VI. learn basic requirements of other conventions and codes applicable for specific ship types.
VII. learn the International Regulations on Ship Management and Operation.
VIII. learn new rules and regulations on technological advances.
