Course Objectives
Characteristics of ship design process, Ship design methods; Iterative, optimisation and expert system approaches in ship design, Computer applications in ship design calculations, Space and layout considerations in computer aided ship design, Application of computers in hull form development, Hydrodynamic considerations in computer aided ship design, Development of Integrated computer aided ship design packages, Applications of Artificial intelligence in computer aided ship design.
Course Description
The goal of this course is to provide the basic concepts and tools of computer aid ship design and how to apply these concepts and tools in practical computer aided ship design problems. At the end of this course the student will have
1. A knowledge of basic methods and tools used in computer aided ship design
2. An appreciation of the advantages of computers in ship design process
3. A knowledge of availability of computer aided ship design software
4. A background on the applications of computers in ship design
Course Outcomes
On completing this course students will be provided with
