Course Objectives Definition of ship characteristics, production and operating economics and design, and design, feasibility study, form optimization. Design methods, design through statistics and systematic analysis, and design from similar backgrounds. Creativity in design, decision-making techniques, and design synthesis. Ship weight groups, capacity calculations, power in design, vibration, noise, stability, seekeeping and maneuvering standards, freeboard, and tonnage calculations, national and international rules and standards, security in design, fire safety, and life safety. General arrangement design. Supporting topics with CAD programs.
