Course Objectives
1. To provide students with basic knowledge and skills required for designing submarines.
2. To prepare students towards engineering problems associated with submarines.
Course Description
Introduction. Geometric Form and General Arrangement. Diving and Stability of Submarines. Submarine Structures. Powering of Submarines. Air Independent Propulsion. Performance Prediction. Submarine Dynamics and Control. Towing Tank & Wind Tunnel Testing of Submarines. Computational Methods Used in Submarine Design. Submarine Acoustics. Submarine Systems. Safety and Rescue Systems. Construction of Submarines.
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the course will acquire the fundamental knowledge listed below as a basis for further studies in submarine design and they will be capable of using such knowledge to obtain solutions to basic problems of underwater vehicle design.
