Course Objectives
1. To teach students perspective geometry of ships and to establish the engineering drawings of different
views in 2-D.
2. To give various aspects of ship geometry and projection onto different planes and drawing techniques
3. To teach to visualize ships in 3D and create 2D drawings from them.
Course Description
General definition of ship geometry, Overview of ship dimensions, Non-dimensional form coefficients,
Body plan, Waterline and Profile planes and determination of drawings on these planes, Series 60 ship form
plans, Geometrical drawing methods, Typical ship forms, Essential parameters to consider in ship design,
Geometrical drawing of special ships, Form characteristics, Various applications.
