Course Objectives
The course aims to familiarize the students with history of science and tehnology and historical methodology.
Course Description
Bilim ve Teknoloji Tarihi; belirli temalar çerçevesinde öğrenciye aktarılacaktır:
Tarih nedir ve tarihi nasıl inceleriz? Tarihsel kaynaklar ve tarih metodolojisi.
Dünya tarihinde bilim ve teknoloji:
Mısır ve Mezopotamya ve Antik Yunan’da bilim ve teknoloji
Roma’da bilim ve teknoloji
Rönesans döneminde bilim ve teknoloji ve Endüstri Devrimi
Osmanlı’da bilim ve teknoloji tarihi
Osmanlı’da okuma kültürü
Osmanlı’da kütüphaneler
Osmanlı’da mühendislik eğitimi tarihi
Osmanlı’da askeri teknolojiler
Osmanlı’da deniz teknolojileri

Course Outcomes
1 Students will be equipped with the basic concepts of history and historical research methodology.
2. Students will be equipped with the history of the science and technology within the framework of certain themes.
3. Students will be equipped with a critical approach in evaluating historical texts.
4. The course will provide students with analytical reading and writing skills.

Research paper based on primary sources (archival sources) and its presentation in the class: % 25.
