Course Objectives
1. To introduce the functions and interaction mechanisms of textile finishing auxiliaries used in pre-treatment, coloration, and finishing processes.
2. To determine the textile finishing auxiliary considering the desired fabric properties.
Course Description
Surfactants and their activity theory, surface tension. The properties of textile auxiliaries such as softeners, defoamers, wetting agents, anti-crease agents, stabilizators, electrolytes, fixators, etc. and explain their interaction mechanism.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will have:
I. Basic knowledge about textile finishing auxiliaries,
II. The ability to choose appropriate auxiliaries considering the textile finishing processes,
III. The ability to anticipate the effects of auxiliary considering the fabric properties (color, hidrophility, surface appearance),
IV. The ability to determine and troubleshoot caused by misuse or improper textile finishing auxiliaries.
