Course Objectives This course will integrate four years of design education with field experience at a specific manufacturer with a company employee as a supervisor/mentor. The Internship Office of the college assists the Fashion Design Department in placing students with designers in the industry who have indicated their support of this cooperative instructional concept.
Course Description This course will integrate four years of design education with field experience at a specific manufacturer with a company employee as a supervisor/mentor. The Internship Office of the college assists the Fashion Design Department in placing students with designers in the industry who have indicated their support of this cooperative instructional concept.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

? Experience the internal processes of a specific designer/manufacturer at first hand

? Realize the integration of the many parts of a fashion manufacturer- the balance of creativity with the reality of business, production and sales

? Understand the process of research and development for a collection within the environment of a design studio/sample room and/or showroom, as well as the needs of the company

? Understand their own development over four years of intensive study while observing the realities of their chosen field
Pre-requisite(s)
Required Facilities Students are required to intern a minimum of 120 hours for the semester, approximately 10 hours per week. There is no maximum number of hours, just a minimum (the more time spent at the internship, the more benefit from the experience). Any extra time will, of course, depends on the rest of other commitments.
