MOD 357 - Intr. to Knitwear Design
Course Objectives
1. use the hand knitting machine as a design tool
2. explore basic jersey structures and their relationship to the design process and create a swatch book containing swatches of all basic and original fabric designs, and technical information done throughout the course
3. utilize communication techniques necessary for communication of knit structures in industrial, hand machine, etc.
4. design knit structures in jersey appropriate use in garments, tops, etc.
5. interpret garment designs into usable knitting plans
Course Description
Prepare students to use hand knitting machines to create original ideas for knitted fabrics and garments. Emphasis is on using various stitch patterns, different textured yarns and color to achive new fabric designs in jersey structures.
