Course Objectives		1. To provide information about problems and quality control methods applied in textile and garment enterprises. 2. Learning quality evaluation and measurement systems, material test, product specifications and analysis in the textile and garment enterprises. 3. Teaching establishment of quality system, quality assurance, total quality management, analytical methods, methodologies and quality development methods.
Course Description		Introduction to quality assurance, definitions for quality and quality assurance. Linking products, quality and customers, understanding standards and specifications. Introduction to testing, Specifying and evaluating materials, durability testing. Evaluating Material Contributions to Comfort, Safety and health. Evaluating Care, Appearance Retention, Colorfastness and Weather Resistance. Specifying and Evaluating Color Requirements. Inspecting Products-Evaluating Products. Sampling a lot and developing acceptance levels. Total quality management and analytic tools, statistical process control. Six sigma methodology. Quality assurance documentation and ISO 9000 process. Responsibility for environment and safety and ISO 14000.
Course Outcomes		Students who pass the course will: I. Have the knowledge about quality and quality assurance II. Understand standards and specifications that reflect target market expectations at appropriate price levels. III. Have the knowledge about the materials used in textile products, the desired characteristics, quality and performance levels for these materials, the evaluation and testing procedures used in the assessment of materials. IV. Have the knowledge about the evaluation, testing and sampling procedures used to assess product quality. V. Have the knowledge about the techniques for the presentation and analysis of data and the methodologies for continuous improvement. VI. Have the ability to build quality assurance system with the knowledge about quality assurance process
