MOD 125 - Fashion Research & Inspiration
Course Objectives
This course aims to empower students to transform historical and cultural insights into innovative contemporary designs by developing advanced research skills through museum and digital archives. By examining the catalysts of stylistic change and mastering field-specific terminology, students will learn to utilize fashion history as a strategic tool for today’s global markets, while fostering professional discipline through adherence to a specific calendar
Course Description
Lectures sequentially cover prehistoric and ancient eras to the Industrial Revolution and the start of the 20th Century. Menswear and womenswear silhouettes, textile development, construction innovation, garment details, accessories and the arts and culture of each period will be studied. Historic inspiration as utilized by contemporary designers will be identified and analyzed.
