Course Objectives
1. Discussing the topics in interaction with the architectural design process (intelligence,
memory, knowledge, problem solving, creativity, informatics,...) in terms of their relation to each
other;
2. Creating awareness on different tools and media involved in the architectural design process;
3. Examining and discussing the current design processes which are experienced in parallel to
digital design and information technologies;
4. Examining experimental design processes and potentials through cases;
5. Discussing the interactions between architecture and disciplines of different scales and
contents (psychology, information sciences, fashion, graphic design, administration sciences) in
the interdisciplinary context of today, through the design process and product
Course Description
Discussion of architectural design processes, tools and interactions; examination of the
potentials between creativity and design process-design knowledge; discussion of experimental
design processes; research, data collection, discussion and realization of audio-visual
productions on the strategies and analysis of production processes of the disciplines in
interaction with current architectural research.
Course Outcomes
Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in
the following subjects and will be able to:
1. define the concepts that interact with design process and the relations between them;
2. study on the analysis of production processes and strategies of disciplines that interact with
architectural research;
3. examine current tools, models and media that are involved in the design process;
4. do analysis and evaluation through different design practices;
5. do comparative evaluation on similar productions produced by different disciplines;
6. gain an awareness on the new potantials of architectural discipline and practice.
