Course Objectives
To introduce concepts, the prominent hypotheses, models , issues and debates in the areas of visual and spatial cognition
To introduce and discuss some of the prominent research methods adapted in spatial and visual cognition research
To introduce and discuss the previous research conducted on visual and spatial reasoning and visual and spatial abilities in design
Course Description
This course will discuss research in visual and spatial cognition towards unfolding visual/spatial thinking in design. These include research in visual mental imagery, (spatial) mental models and visual thinking in design, individual differences in visual/spatial abilities, the roles of and the relationship between external and mental visuospatial representations and individual differences in visual/spatial abilities.
