Course Objectives		1. To adopt the circular economy and biorefinery approaches 2. To introduce advanced technologies within the scope of the biorefinery concept 3. To demonstrate the need-based methods for the valorisation of waste/wastewater in different industries
Course Description		Bio-refinery, circular economy, bio-economy, zero waste concepts, waste/wastewater valorisation methods, valorisation of whey, lignocellulosic waste, fish waste, meat industry and animal by-products and agricultural industry wastes, alternative bioplastic production methods, single cell protein production from waste/wastewater, purple phototrophic bacteria-based processes, conversion of waste into bioenergy-based molecules.
Course Outcomes		1. Gaining the ability to construct evaluation techniques for wastes, which are seen as economic losses 2. Having advanced knowledge about suitable technologies for the biorefinery concept 3. Using the advanced knowledge acquired within the scope of the evaluation of waste and wastewater with the biorefinery approach, in the selection of appropriate technology 4. Considering advanced technologies in a critical way in the scope of the biorefinery concept and developing alternative technologies
