Course Objectives 1. Understand main micro and macroeconomic models with the help of basic theory, numerous examples and case studies.
2. To be able to use economic models to analyze market structures, competition, and macroeconomic policies.
Course Description Theories of demand and production; perfectly competitive markets; imperfectly competitive markets; asymmetric information and externalities; impact on social welfare of regulatory government interventions; neoclassical synthesis in Macroeconomics; business cycles ; macroeconomic policy debates.
Course Outcomes 1. To be able to determine the structure of a market and develop adequate business strategies.
2. To be able to develop public policies to increase consumer welfare when markets fail as well as to be able to develop new business strategies in the face of these government interventions.
3. To understand the usage of macroeconomic policy tools.
4. Understanding short-run macroeconomic fluctuations through changes in Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply and develop policies for stability and business strategies.
