Course Objectives 1. To inform students about the existence of different areas of biotechnology
2. To inform students on recent research, applications and advances in different areas of biotechnology.
Course Description This course covers studies and discussion on recent scientific research and applications on a variety of biotechnological fields. Advances in genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic research, metabolic engineering, protein engineering, bionanotechnology, environmental biotechnology, microbial biotechnology, food biotechnology, medical biotechnology etc. are covered throughout this course.
Course Outcomes 1. To become aware of the existence and the interdisciplinary nature of different areas of biotechnology.
2. To gain knowledge on current research and application topics of a variety of biotechnological areas and the current methods used.
3. Ability to present the investigated subject efficiently in oral, visual and written forms.
4. Assessing the specialistic knowledge and skill gained through the study with a critical view and directing one’s own learning process.
5. Ability to work in a team for research projects.
