Course Objectives
1. To provide students with a solid basis of key audio programming concepts pertaining to audio I/O, spectral and spatial manipulations, synthesis and analysis of audio,
2. To help students develop an understanding of current tools and techniques used in audio programming,
3. Through implementation excercises, to explore and apply theortical concepts of audio programming in real-life situations to enable students to conduct further research,
Course Description
A theoretical and practical overview of advanced audio programming technologies, providing an in-depth study of various audio programming primitives as well as introducing multiple implementation approaches; technical and artistic implications of various audio programming platforms epitomized through practical development exercises.
Course Outcomes
Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge, skills, and competencies:
1. Knowledge about low-level concepts that govern infrastructural operations in digital audio,
2. Competency at cross-platform implementation of basic audio processes such as I/O and callback mechanisms,
3. Knowledge about programming audio across multipleenvironments with varying levels of abstraction,
4. Knowledge about mathematical, physical and artistic aspects of digital audio programming
