MDP 606E - Composition Project 4

Course Objectives

1. Through weekly lesson and assignments, students are mentored to gain a greater competency in the necessary contrapuntal and harmonic skills necessary for large orchestral forces.
2. To help students develop further their understanding of musical process and forms, particularly those of contemporary music.
3. To develop students’ orchestration skills.
4. To help students acquire advanced skills in notation, such as for extended instrumental techniques.

Course Description

Composition for large-sized orchestras, technical form and notational topics, development of
personality, self-criticism.
