Course Objectives
1. To provide a general background in music cognition.
2. To introduce the literature, methods, and writing styles used in scientific studies of music.
Course Description
The introduction to the main currents of music cognition studies. Jay Dowling and Dane Harwood’s classic Music Cognition, the studies done on world music repertoires. The history of music cognition awareness by surveying some of the sound recordings published over the last 50 years as well as some recent video recordings.
