Course Objectives

1. To learn basic terminology and concepts relevant to the field of music cognition
2. To explore the problems and benefits of analyzing musical phenomena from the viewpoints of psychology, perception, and neuroscience
3. To become familiar with and to discuss the research methodologies common to music cognition

Course Description

An introduction to the dynamic, inter-disciplinary field known as music cognition, which includes the fields of music theory, music therapy, psychology, neuroscience, speech and hearing sciences, and linguistics.
