Course Objectives
1. Through weekly assignments, provide the students knowledge about techniques of dance music production across a variety of musical genres,
2. Provide the students knowledge of current industry tools and methods,
3. Through reading and listening assignments and exercises, exposing the students to the cultural factors influencing the development of various genres
Course Description
Core techniques and practices of electronic dance music production, examining current trends and the changing status of electronic dance music in the mainstream pop industry, Core techniques and practices in dance music production techniques relevant to popular music production, critical listening and analysis, A survey of dance music genres from the 1980s to the present day
Course Outcomes
1, Ability to produce professional level musical productions in one or more subgenres of electronic dance music,
2, Applying technical production skills to studio practices in related genres of recorded music, 3, Ability to identify and discuss stylistic elements of different genres and subgenres of electronic dance music,
4, Ability to discuss the status of electronic dance music in the context of recent trends in popular music production practice
