Course Objectives
The course aims to
? provide students with a knowledge of quantitative techniques applicable in business organizations,
? enhance the students' problem solving capacity in management decision problems with the aid of management science techniques,
? improve the overall quality of managerial decision making.
Course Description
This course provides the student with the concepts, methods and tools for the application of logical and quantitative analysis for business decision making and problem solving. The student will be exposed to different mathematical techniques from Linear and Integer Programming to Decision Analysis that have been applied successfully to a wide variety of complex problems in business applications. It focuses on building mathematical models for management decision problems and solving management problems using graphical and computer tools and interpreting the results.
Course Outcomes
Students who will successfully complete this course will be able
? to identify the problems and the systems required for decision making with the variables, constraints and objectives,
? to build mathematical models for the problems and systems,
? to interpret the results obtained from the solutions
? to use computer programs for solving models
? to solve and analyze the real life problems based on scientific view.
