Course Objectives 1-Through technical exercises and etudes to improve students’ technique and dancing.
2-To teach students how to assimilate the information given to them and apply it to similar situations in other pieces and show initiative in solving dance and technical problems encountered.
3-To help students get acquainted with several choreographers and dance styles.
Course Description An individually tailored course to address the performer’s strengths and weaknesses and find ways to improve them through technical dancing. Building repertoire. Technical and rendering studies on the chosen piece. Performance of the recital.
Course Outcomes Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge, skills and competencies
1-To make students achieve higher level of competence on their chosen dance.
2-The competency on identifying problems in their own technique and coming up with solutions to correct them
3-The knowledge on a range of dance and aesthetic issues related to their chosen dance such as influential performers, choreographer and compositions, originality, and historical performance practice.
4-The ability to present a well-prepared performance on their chosen dance in an end-of-semester recital
