Course Objectives
1. Through technical exercises and etudes, to improve students’ technique and musicality,
2. To develop an understanding of musical performance through a study of repertoire from different periods,
3. To acquaint students with various composers and musical styles
Course Description
Musical and form analysis of works selected from the pre-Baroque and Baroque repertoire, musical and form analysis of works selected from the Classical repertoire, technique class, analysis of stylistic issues related to performance, comparing various artists’s interpretations, writing program notes for the end-of-semester recital.
