Course Objectives - Through readings, lectures, and practical application, to develop an understanding of the pricipal recording techniques used in profession recording studios.
- Through readings and lectures, to teach the theoretical underpinnings for these techniques.
- To demonstrate how to effectively record large musical ensembles in a studio environment, and how to manage the productions of these sessions.
Course Description An introduction to the technical and practical operations of a modern recording studio, along with the theoretical bases for these practices; emphasis on microphone design and application in complex multi-tracking projects; broad overview of analog and digital audio processing technology and their practical applications.
Course Outcomes - Knowledge of the technical and mechanical bases of analog and digital recording technology.
- Knowledge of the theoretical concepts underpinning recording studio practices.
- Competency in applications like signal flow, routing, and data management practices of
professional recording studios.
- Skill in directing operational procedures, standards, and social practices of professional
recording facilities.
- Competency in practical experience putting advanced recording technologies into practice
