Course Objectives 1. The course aims to familiarize students with literature and primary sources on the history of science and technology in the Ottoman World.
2. The course will introduce students to archival methodology and practices on historical study of science and technology in the Ottoman Empire.
3. The course will equip students with analytical reading and writing skills together with critical approach to the primary sources in addition to the archival research practices.
Course Description The study and historical trajectory of science and technology in the Ottoman Empire.
Literature on the history of science and technology in the Ottoman World, primary sources, archival methodology and practices.
Course Outcomes The students are expected to be:
1. familiar with existing scholarly literature, primary sources, archival methodology and practices,
2. equipped with critical approach to the primary sources,

Required Facilities
Other The course is arranged around lectures, in-class participation of students and class presentations of the research papers prepared by the students.

Requirements:
Students are expected to submit a research paper and present it at the class. There will be a final exam.

The class grade will be based on the following:
• Research paper and its presentation: 50 %
• Final Exam: 40 %
• Attendance and Participation: 10 %.
