Course Objectives		• To provide the knowlegde about the theories of cultural anthropology • To examplify the related music studies based on these theories • To employ the theories of cultural anthropology in music studies.
Course Description		Cultural anthropology. Functionalism and relation with its music studies. Structural functionalism and its relation with music studies. Structuralism and its relation with music studies.Cognitive ethnology and its relation with music studies. Psychoanalysis and its relation with music studies. Cultural relativism and its relation with music studies. Critical theory and its relation with music studies. Contemporary Approaches.
Course Outcomes		Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge, skills and competencies; I. Knowledge of the theories of cultural anthropology, II. Knowledge on the theories of cultural anthropology in the example essays of music studies, III. Knowledge and skill of employing those theories in the music studies, IV. Knowledge and skill of applying the research techniques of the cultural anthropology in the music studies
