Course Objectives It aims to familiarize students with the morphological features stated in the syllabus and with the most basic syntax rules, and to let them explore this highly inflected classical language without losing their enthusiasm.
Course Description This is a beginner level Latin course in which the grammar-translation method is used predominantly.
Course Outcomes In addition to the grammatical subjects specified in the lesson plan, the history of Latin, its linguistic aspects, its role in the effective and rapid learning of European languages and cultures, as well as some important texts that have shaped history, will be briefly touched upon, and it will be demonstrated through concrete examples that this ancient language retains its importance for many fields today, and thus students will take an important step towards establishing a solid relationship with the history, texts and terms of their own disciplines.
Pre-requisite(s) There are no prerequisites.
Required Facilities
Other 70% attendance is required.
Textbook Lecture notes prepared by the instructor and exercises from Wheelock's Latin and 38 Latin Stories (not required) will be used.
