Course Objectives

I. Conceive the interdisiplinary relations between cultural studies and musicology,
II. To develop considering on the relationship between cultural practices and artistic
structures and cultural policies and to make sense of social conditions in this context,
III. Thinking about music and dance by associating them with various power mechanisms
and concepts,
IV. To be able to make social analyzes and develop critical perspectives through music and
dance.

Course Description

Cultural Studies, history focused in culture, relationship between critical approaches, cultural
studies and social history, music and dance as cultural practices and artistic fields, cultural
representations, contemporary culture policy, art and industry. Power and art over the notions
of ideology, class, ethnicity, media.
