Course Objectives The course aims to,
• analyze the relationship between the industry, art, design,
• reveal the interactions and connections between the art movements and design products in the same era,
• examine the development of industrial design through the perspectives of various disciplines.
Course Description History of art and design after the Industrial Revolution. Evolution of product design during the Western art movements. The process of industrial design and its relation to art. Development of design and concept of the daily used objects. Cultural influences. Semiotics. Modernism vs Post-modernism.
Course Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to,
1. acquire expert knowledge about the modern art and its impact on industrial product design,
2. understand the development process of industrial design through theoretical and practical analysis,
3. be able to make interdisciplinary analysis by examining interactions related to design, art, and industry,
4. to develop a critical and interpretive perspective in the field of design and art,
5. to conduct academic and original research by focusing on a certain period, movement, product.
