Course Objectives •To comprehend the connection between Anatolian Edvar tradition and Meragi who is significant for makam, perde, usul issues in musicology.
•To identify transformations in the musical life by studying the works in the period of 15th century.
Course Description Overview of Music Studies in Turkic World of 14th and 15th centuries. The life and masterpieces of Abdülkadir Meragi. Analysis of Meragi’s repertoire. Analysis of Makasıdü”l and Camiü”l Elhan. Representators of Anatolian Edvar Tradition. The Edvar of Kırşehri Yusuf. Avaze, Şube, Makam and Terkips, Usuls, Instruments and Forms. The Edvar of Hızır Bin Abdullah, Ruhperver, Tirevi, El Matla Anatolian Edvars of Seydi and its comparison with Kırşehri . Similarities between Ladiki and Meragi.
