Course Objectives The aim of the course is:
1. To give basic microeconomics knowledge and approaches to the students and,
2. To make them understand economic agents’ (firms and households) behaviors.
Course Description Economics; tools of economic analysis; demand, supply and the market; elasticities; consumer behavior;
producer behavior; market structures and pricing: perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition, oligopoly; game theory and strategy
Course Outcomes A student, who has completed this course successfully, is expected to display
I. Knowledge of and ability to use the basic concepts and tools of economic analysis;
II. Understanding of market mechanism and ability to analyze the impact of changes in economic environment on the market;
III. An ability to understand and evaluate the impact of individual economic agents on the market and the impact of the market on these agents;
IV. An ability to evaluate the pricing and production decisions of firms in different market structures;
V. Knowledge of the basic concepts of strategic thinking.
