Dersin Amaçları
The first part of this course provides a broad overview of economics suitable as an introduction to all graduates. It is designed to develop students’ knowledge of economic ideas in the context of contemporary issues using the tools of elementary economic analysis. Students are shown how to apply economic reasoning to a range of problems relevant for understanding the mechanisms and institutions, which allocate and distribute resources. Students are introduced to theories of individual (micro) behaviour, including consumer decision-making as well as firms’ conduct in different market structures.
The second part of the course focuses on the sustainability issue in the business world. 2015 Paris Agreement, 2019 European Green Deal and announcement of carbon-neutrality in the mid-21st century by main economic powers hint a structural shift in business making. This new environment forces countries and firms to transform in an environmentally-friendly way.
