Course Objectives 1- Description of “active tectonics”, its importance on human life and economy
2- Kinematic and dynamic analysis of Recent tectonic movements
3- The effect of Recent tectonic movements to landforms
4- Earthquake risk analysis Recent tectonic movements
Course Description Fault types and their morphological and mechanical properties. Stress theory and its application to faulting. Morphological features of the landscape and its significance in terms of the active tectonics. Earthquake seismology. Mapping and interpretations of earthquake ruptures. Trench studies and its results. Dating methods of the faulting events. Modelling of faults and earthquakes.
