Course Objectives 1) Examining the cities since the ancient times;
2) Investigation research methodologies on urban history;
3) Investigating the relationship between cities and industry, politics and economics throughout the history;
4) Studying the impacts of various concepts such as migration, energy use, sustainability and digital technologies on the present-day cities.
Course Description Concept of a city since the ancient times; methodologies of urban history; impacts of political power on cities, impacts of religious authority on cities; economic models and cities; cities and industry; digital technologies; climate change/natural disasters and cities.
Course Outcomes Students gain knowledge, skills and proficiency in the following subjects:
1) The development of the city concept since the ancient times;
2) Methods of urban history;
3) The impacts of political power, religious authority, economic models on people's interactions in urban places over time.
4) The ways that natural features, industry and digital technologies shaped cities.
