Course Objectives
This advance level control course including the following aims:
1- To teach Frequency Analysis and Frequency based control design
2- To teach Bode and Nyquist Plots
3- To provide background of Lead-Lag Compensation
4- To provide controllability and observability, and controllable and observable canonical forms
5- To provide Control System Design including the State Feedback, Pole Placement, Ackerman Formula and Control Design
Course Description
In the second part of the Automatic Control course, we are more focused on frequency system analysis and frequency based control design including Bode, Nyquist approaches, Phase and Gain margins. We also cover stability analysis, Lead, Lag compensation, observability, and controllability concepts. Finally, we elaborate control system design by means of State Feedback, Pole Placement, Ackerman Formula and Control design techniques.
Course Outcomes
1. be able to understand frequency response of LTI systems
2. understanding frequency based control techniques of automatic control systems
3. have a knowledge about Lead, Lag Compensation and Lead-Lag Compensator design
4. be able to obtain gain and phase plots, and state space representation of dynamical systems
5. be able to understand the way of observability and controllability tests
6. have a knowledge about the Controllable and Observable Canonical Forms
7. be able to understand the state feedback and pole placement approaches
9. have a knowledge of Ackerman Formula and Control Design
11. to have a knowledge of Matlab and Simulink programming in control systems
