MIM 312 - Architectural Design VI
Course Objectives
Discussion of architectural design problems at different scales and levels of detail within the framework of participation, pluralism and social awareness,
? Critical evaluation of urban context, sustainability, energy, economy, advanced structural systems and building technologies in terms of design methods and current architectural theories,
? Development of complex and multifunctional building programs and solution proposals,
? Evaluation of all kinds of general disaster (natural and artificial) scenarios as inputs in the design process,
? Advanced use of representation environments.
Course Description
The studio aims to explore the theme of topophilia by focusing on the emotional and cultural bonds that individuals and communities establish with certain places. To this end, through the lens of urban articulation and architectural design, how physical environments - specifically a university campus - foster a sense of belonging and attachment in its dynamic environment will be examined. Our primary research area will be the Kırklareli University campus, which offers potential for exploring the interaction between the natural landscape and the built environment. In this process, students are expected to critically engage with the themes of sustainability, community and innovation, and produce design proposals that address the complex, layered realities of space and establish an emotional and functional connection with the space.
