MIM 351E - Architectural Design V
Course Objectives
This course calls on future architects to design environments that embrace the complexity of learning, creating places where the mind, brain, and body are in constant dialogue and action. This studio offers you the opportunity to address the dynamic needs of children and youths aged 3–18 through key design considerations, such as the integration of experiential, environmental, sensory phenomena to enrich learning and everyday experiences.
Course Description
Discussing architectural design problems, participation, collaboration, and social aspects at different scales and levels of detail; developing complex and multifunctional building programs and design proposals; developing advanced architectural representations; developing and implementing data collection, analysis, and program development processes appropriate to the nature of the design problem and reflecting the designer's personal interests and skills; discussing the issues of location, program, space, identity, and representation that determine design within the framework of a complex design situation; developing the ability to master architectural components such as structure, building systems, and detail development throughout the entire design process; controlling the ability to produce solutions in complex urban fabric.
