Course Objectives
This course calls on future architects to design environments that embrace the complexity of learning, creating places where the mind, brain, and body are in constant dialogue and action. This studio offers you the opportunity to address the dynamic needs of children and youths aged 3–18 through key design considerations, such as the integration of experiential, environmental, sensory phenomena to enrich learning and everyday experiences.
Course Description
Discussing architectural design problems, participation, collaboration, and social aspects at different scales and levels of detail; developing complex and multifunctional building programs and design proposals; developing advanced architectural representations; developing and implementing data collection, analysis, and program development processes appropriate to the nature of the design problem and reflecting the designer's personal interests and skills; discussing the issues of location, program, space, identity, and representation that determine design within the framework of a complex design situation; developing the ability to master architectural components such as structure, building systems, and detail development throughout the entire design process; controlling the ability to produce solutions in complex urban fabric.
Course Outcomes
Developing imagination, creative thinking, and critical questioning skills,
Being able to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge for the sake of design conceptualization and the development process.
Being able to understand environment-based human needs/responses/experience/interactions using knowledge-based
approaches
Being able to understand the research and design collaboration
Being able to give a contextual response to the place by considering the natural, built, and social environment data,
Being able to define the design problem at the conceptual level,
Being able to create scenarios and programs parallel to the design idea,
Designing spaces with their formal/spatial/functional/tectonic relations,
Developing speaking, writing, professional terminology, and representation techniques in architectural design
