Course Objectives

Making students aware of their responsibilities regarding their employers, their customers and the general public. Letting students know about the professional codes of conduct prepared by relevant professional organizations regarding information technologies. Helping students form their opinions about ethical issues in their profession and getting them to express their opinions both in oral and written form. Inspiring students to consider ethical issues during their entire professional career and to act responsibly according to legal and ethical issues.

Course Description

Concepts, ethical theories. Professional ethics, code of ethics, responsibility. Privacy, data protection. Intellectual property, copyrights, patents, license agreements. Cybercrime. Social implications of information technologies.
