Course Objectives Making students aware of their responsibilities regarding their employers, their customers and the general public. Letting students know about the professional codes of conduct prepared by relevant professional organizations regarding information technologies. Helping students form their opinions about ethical issues in their profession and getting them to express their opinions both in oral and written form. Inspiring students to consider ethical issues during their entire professional career and to act responsibly according to legal and ethical issues.
Course Description Concepts, ethical theories. Professional ethics, code of ethics, responsibility. Privacy, data protection. Intellectual property, copyrights, patents, license agreements. Cybercrime. Social implications of information technologies.
Course Outcomes Know the social implications and controversial issues about information technologies. Know the professional codes of conduct regarding information technologies. Know the problems and legal arrangements about privacy and data protection. Know the legal arrangements and discussions about intellectual property. Know the legal arrangements about computer crime.
