MOD 134 - Materials & Construction II

Course Objectives

By examining the patterns of a garment, determining the sewing plan and the sequence of construction steps.
Being able to identify and apply fabric, sewing, and pattern characteristics appropriate to the design.
Developing sewing techniques by carrying out applications with lightweight and transparent fabrics.
Understanding and applying design and sewing characteristics, especially for fine and draped fabrics.
Selecting and using sewing, pattern, and finishing techniques suitable for different types of fabrics.

Course Description

As it relates to the fashion designer, the course advances students' knowledge of materials, core properties, and construction techniques that inform silhouette design and hands-on prototype development.
